THE POINT is a popular multi-use venue specialising in top quality dance, theatre, film and performance art situated in Eastleigh, Hants, just an 80 minute train journey from London.
On November 12th The Point will open a brand new, purpose-built studio space, PHASE 3 AT THE POINT, adjacent to its existing auditorium. Uniquely Phase3 will be the first non-metropolitan venue to offer visiting companies residential accommodation. The UK's No. 1 choreographer/dancer, AKRAM KHAN, will open the new building with a special preview of his new Kathak solo, Gnosis.
Established in 1996 with one of the first lottery grants, THE POINT is housed in Eastleigh's beautifully renovated former Victorian Town Hall; the venue attracts audiences from surrounding towns such as Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth and has become a focal point for artists living in the region.
"I'm delighted Akram will be here to open Phase3 At The Point," says Artistic Director, Gregory Nash. "He and I go way back and it is his ingenuity as a dance maker, his extraordinary flair as a performer and his gift as a communicator which will make the event so special."
