Set in 1949 in the stylish, noir atmosphere of postwar New York City , Songs from a Hotel Bedroom is a new work of choreographic music theatre which tells the story of a tragic love affair between a cabaret singer and a songwriter. Conceived and directed by renowned choreographer Kate Flatt, Songs From A Hotel Bedroom stars Frances Ruffelle and Nigel Richards and opens at Watford Palace Theatre on October 14 th.

The doomed romance between Angélique Picard, the singer (Frances Ruffelle) and Dan Silverman, the songwriter (Nigel Richards) unfolds against a powerful backdrop of bittersweet love songs written by the great Kurt Weill.  Songs such as September Song, You're Far Too Near Me (lyrics by Ira Gershwin), I'm A Stranger Here Myself and many more are performed by Frances, Dan and a seven piece band; against this highly musical backdrop, two tango dancers sway and shimmer...

Setting the scene: It's late…Angélique has just finished another stint onstage in another dingy cabaret club…the band are downstairs drinking in the bar and she's alone in her hotel room…she sits down reflecting upon her brief, passionate affair with Dan and wonders what would have happened if things had been different…
