'LIZA'S AT THE PALACE' - poster and dvd jacket 2010
There's no stopping the legendary LIZA MINNELLI - she played to capacity audiences on Broadway at the Palace Theatre for over 6 weeks at the end of 2008 and subsequently won a special Tony award for the show. In 2009 she started the year in cracking form with a tour of Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil and in October she toured Australia for the first time in over twenty years.
In February fans will be able to purchase the dvd of this showstopping, thrilling two hour show which was recorded at the midnight performance at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on October 1st 2009.
Act One features favorite songs by Ms. Minnelli, including Cabaret, Maybe This Time, What Makes a Man a Man, and My Own Best Friend. A first act highlight is Liza's special rendition of the Palace Medley, originally sung by her mother, Judy Garland, at the Palace Theatre in 1951. Liza adds a new personal musical introduction to the fond remembrance of famous vaudevillians. Act Two is very special tribute to Liza's godmother, Kay Thompson, a groundbreaking singer-dancer, songwriter, and vocal arranger/coach at the MGM studios in the 1940 s.
"...an incredible interpreter of songs, Minnelli's vulnerability and self-deprecation earned her seven standing ovations" (The London Paper, reviewing Liza's London show at the Colisseum in 2008).
This uniquely talented, multi-award winning singer/actress/dancer boasts a stack of international awards include the Oscar for Best Actress (‘Cabaret’ 1973), a Grammy, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and many others
