'LIZA'S AT THE PALACE'
- poster and dvd jacket 2010
There's
no stopping the legendary LIZA MINNELLI - she played to capacity
audiences on Broadway at the Palace Theatre for over 6 weeks
at the end of 2008 and subsequently won a special Tony award
for the show. In 2009 she toured South America
and Australia and in 2010 was seen in the smash hit movie,
'Sex And The City 2'.
The
dvd of her showstopping, thrilling two hour show - which was
recorded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in October 2009 - is
now available.
Act
1 features some of Liza's own personal favourite songs: Cabaret,
Maybe This Time, What Makes A Man A Man, and My Own Best Friend;
a highlight is Liza's rendition of the Palace Medley, originally
sung by Judy Garland at the Palace Theatre in 1951.
Act 2 is a special tribute to Liza's godmother, Kay Thompson,
a ground-breaking singer, dancer, songwriter and vocal arranger/coach
at the MGM Studios in the 1940s.
"...an
incredible interpreter of songs, Minnelli's vulnerability
and self-deprecation earned her seven standing ovations"
(The London Paper, reviewing Liza's London show at the Colisseum
in 2008).
