HANK MARVIN

Hank Marvin has been a major influence on guitar heroes ever since he first played lead guitar with The Shadows.  Hank's metallic echoed picking on a red Fender Stratocaster - with generous employment of tremolo arm - is often cited as the inspirational source of the fretboard pyrotechnics of Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend, Brian May and many others.

As back-up band for Cliff Richard, whose early chart toppers - 'Move It' 'Living Doll' - kick-started a truly awesome string of 43 Top 20 singles in just ten years, the Shads - four clean-cut instrumental virtuosos - soon became legends themselves, scoring five No. 1 hits - including the legendary 'Apache' - and many other Top 10 hits before disbanding - for the first time - in 1968.

Marvin's solo career began with a Top 20 album and albums with Bruce Welch and John Farrar.  The Shadows re-formed at the end of the 70s and had hits with 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' and the theme from 'The Deerhunter'; in '82 Hank charted with 'Don't Talk' and, after working with the Shadows during the 80s, went on to record a sustained series of solo albums; his last release, 'Guitar Player' was a Top 10 hit in 2002.

Hank's 2007 release, 'GUITAR MAN', went gold within weeks of release and reached No 6 in the UK album charts, the highest position he's ever achieved as a solo artist.

Although he claims to be retired...we're hoping Hank will tour the UK in 2008 which will please his legions of loyal fans...watch this space!
