Alison Moyet began her professional career with synth pop duo Yazoo in the early '80s. In 1983, Moyet began a solo career, releasing her debut album, 'Alf', which went straight to No. 1 in the charts and launched the hit singles, 'Invisible', 'All Cried Out' and 'Love Resurrection'. During 1985 Moyet toured with John Altman's jazz band and recorded a version of Billie Holiday's 'That Ole Devil Called Love' which became the singer's biggest hit to date.
In 1986 Moyet had another major hit with 'Is This Love?'; her second solo album 'Raindancing' went straight to No. 2 in 1987 and spawned the Top Ten hits, 'Weak In The Presence of Beauty' and 'Love Letters'. In 1991 she released her third album, 'Hoodoo', which was her most musically ambitious collection to date; 'Essex' followed in 1994 and was followed by a greatest hits collection, 'Singles'.
After a professional gap of seven years, Alison made her critically acclaimed West End debut in 2001 as Mama Morton in 'Chicago' and released the album 'Hometime' in 2002. In 2005 'Voice' was released and Alison starred with Dawn French in the West End production of 'Smaller'. She released 'The Turn' in 2007 and completed sellout tours in 2008 on her own and with Vince Clarke as the reunited Yazoo. In February 2009 Alison toured the UK and France with the legendary Michel Legrand and in November/December undertook a sellout solo tour of the UK.
Alison's current album is 'The Best of Alison Moyet' which was released in October 2009; All Cried Out, Love Resurrection, Invisible and Is This Love are all included on this 20 track anthology, as well as That Ole Devil Called Love and Love Letters. Windmills Of Your Mind and Almost Blue from 2004’s Voice album, which perfectly demonstrate the smoky range of Alison’s blues vocals, are all included on this comprehensive collection of solo work.
