Alison Moyet

 

ALISON MOYET, whose distinguished career spans 25 years and whose record sales exceed 20 million, began her professional career with synth pop duo Yazoo in the early '80s. In 1983, Moyet launched her solo career with the album 'Alf' which went to No. 1 in the UK and spawned the hit singles 'Invisible', 'All Cried Out' and 'Love Resurrection'.  In 1985 she toured with a jazz band led by John Altman and recorded a version of Billie Holiday's 'That Ole Devil Called Love' which became her biggest British hit.

The hits continued with 'Is This Love?' which was released while she was recording her second solo album 'Raindancing' which went to No. 2 and featured the Top 10 hits 'Weak In The Presence Of Beauty' and 'Love Letters'.  In 1991 her third solo album, 'Hoodoo' became her most musicallly ambitious and was followed by 'Essex' in 1994 and a hits collection, 'Singles', the following year. 

Alison made her critically acclaimed West End debut in 2001 as Mama Morton in 'Chicago' and released the album 'Hometime' in 2002.  In 2005 'Voice' was released and Alison starred with Dawn French in the West End production of 'Smaller'.  After signing with W14 Music in late 2006, Moyet released 'The Turn' in October 2007.  Alison completed a sellout UK tour in February 08 and is currently rehearsing for dates with the reunited Yazoo.
